Olamide Biography: Early life and education

Olamide was born in Bariga, Lagos State on 15th March 1989. He began his initial tutoring in Lagos State and finished his essential and optional schooling there. After this, he left the state for his tertiary training. He eventually obtained his first degree in mass communication from the Tai Solarin University of Education in Ogun State as a part-time student.

Thereafter, Olamide began to pursue a career in music. His big break did not come immediately as we will see in the next section.

Music Career

Olamide came into fame in 2011 when he signed a record deal with Coded Tunes record which was headed by ID Cabasa’s. After signing the records deal, he released his first debut studio album titled Rapsodi.

However, he left the Coded Tunes record in 2012 to form his own record label YBNL.

Olamide’s second studio collection YBNL was delivered in November 2012. Its creation was taken care of by Tyrone (maker), Samklef, 2 Kriss, Pheelz and ID Cabasa. The collection highlights visitor appearances from Davido, Tiwa Savage, Kayswitch, Dammy Krane, Reminisce, Samklef, Buckwylla, Minus 2 and Base One. It was upheld by the singles “Ilefo Illuminati”, “Stupid Love” and “Voice of the Street”.
